Treasure Trunk

Gallery of Trunk Pictures

Gallery of Art Inside the Trunk

I wanted to come up with a project that would showcase Stampland's great images and that would also convey Bill's history within the stamping community. This trunk is what I came up with. Please enjoy the project.

Materials:
Papier Maché Trunk
Acrylic Paints
Perfect Paper Adhesive
PH Martin Iridescent Ink Pad in Brass
Krylon Gold Leafing Pen
Radiant Pearls
Black Pigment Ink (Memories)
Black Detail Embossing Powder
Wausau Exact Bristol Vellum
Tags
Fibers
Brass Hinge Clasp
E6000
Clear Shrink Plastic

I painted the outside of the trunk with hunter green acrylic paint. The trim was done with brown. After applying 2 coats and allowing them to dry thoroughly I sponged the PH Martin ink over the whole trunk for a "worn" look. I attached a brass hinge clasp to the front and tied on various fibers and tags to the clasp.

The inside of the trunk was painted with acrylic paint in metallic gold. The quote on the inner top of the trunk was sponged with various brown inks and applied to the lid with Perfect Paper Adhesive.

The bottom of the trunk is a combination of fun foam squares and flat decoupage. The fun foam squares were colored using a gold leafing pen. The pictures I used were taken from Christine Cox's interview with Picasso Gaglione (this issue). I attached them to the foam using E6000 and attached the foam to the bottom of the trunk using the same glue. The acrylic partition between the bottom of the box and the accordion books is a piece of clear shrink plastic (not shrunk down).

The accordion book was pre-made and bought at my local stamp store, Stamper's Warehouse in Danville. It came with ivory pages which I dyed black using a Memories black ink pad.  The cover was covered with gold paper.

All the images in the accordion books are by Stampland. They were stamped on Wausau Exact Bristol Vellum paper with black pigment ink and then embossed with black detail powder. I like using detail powder for all my stamping projects as it gives much crisper lines. All the images were then painted with Radiant Pearls and then cut out and glued to the pages of the book.
